Springfords Employees Charity Committee

As a new year starts the Springfords Employees Charity Committee is busy counting its pennies in preparation for the annual distribution of funds to worthy causes.  The Committee was set up 12 years ago and the money raised goes mainly to local charities or charities close to the hearts of Springfords partners and staff.

The year is always rounded off with the annual childrens Christmas Party - a chance for Springfords and their children to get together and meet Santa and a thank you to everyone who has supported fundraising events over the year.

This year over £1,500 has been raised from various activities including our weekly "Soup Day" - each week a different person makes soup and sells it - "Losers" - £1 is paid for a weekly weigh in for those wishing to shed the pounds and "Navids" our tuck shop.  Dress down days and themed lunches have also been held, together with quizzes and caption competitions.  Each year the partners kindly contribute £1,000 if the Committee manages to raise £1,000 from events so we have a healthy £2,500 to distribute this year.

Over the past three years donations have been made to many good causes, including Children In Need, Comic Relief, Team Lothian - Special Olympics 2009, Friends of Midlothian, Rachel House Children's Hospice, The Sick Kids, Glasgow Vet School, East Lothian Special Needs Play Schemes and various national charities.
